The « Communauté de Communes » of the Pays Mareuillais was started in January 1997 and counts about 7 430 inhabitants.
It is made up of 11 communes :
    - Bessay
- Château-Guibert
- Corpe
- La Bretonnière- La Claye
- La Couture
- Les Moutiers-sur-le-Lay
- Les Pineaux
- Mareuil sur Lay-Dissais
- Péault
- Rosnay
- Sainte-Pexine
  The « Communauté de Communes » is managed by a Council of 27 members and it works mainly on the following fields :
 
• Town and country planning.
• Economic development.
• Protection and improvement of environment.
• Local housing.
• Achievement and promotion of leisure, sports and cultural equipments.
• Assistance to old people.
 
So far, the “Communauté de Communes” has achieved different projects such as :
    • two industrial estates at Corpe and la Mainborgère.
• two waste collection sites at Mareuil-Sur-Lay-Dissais and Moutiers-Sur-Le-Lay.
• workshops (Premises for crafts and commercial use).
• a leisure park at Château-Guibert.
• a service to bring meals to old people’s homes.
